Making The Band 1

Making the Band is a reality show airing on MTV. It began as a series on ABC, where Lou Pearlman, a talent scout that helped to form boy bands NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys, searched eight cities for a total of eight promising young male vocalists in 1999.

Season 1, 2, and 3
The first season initiated when Lou Pearlman created a new band called O-Town. There were a total of five spots in O-Town, and eight people competing for them. The winners of the competition turned out to be Ashley Angel, Jacob Underwood, Erik Estrada, Trevor Penick, and Ikaika Kahoano. Later on, though, Ikaika Kaohano left the band because of his desire to be with his family. This left an opening in O-Town, so the other band members allowed Dan Miller, a semifinalist in the original talent scouting competition, to join the band.
In the next two seasons, MTV featured the progress of O-Town. Cameramen followed them during their concerts and tours. They also featured the development of a second album, which was called O2. The second and third seasons were aired on MTV, instead of ABC.

MTV-Making The Band 1 was a hit with the recording industry and MTV reality shows.
