Season 1
After the success of Making the Band 1, the show returned with Diddy as the talent scout. Diddy and his crew scoured the country looking for artists for a new hip-hop group, unlike the original Making the Band, which created a pop group. Several episodes displayed the actual talent search. Subsequent episodes presented the finalists and the performance training that Diddy gave them. Finally, band members were selected. Some people argue that Diddy was openly biased towards some rappers, but in the end, the contest was fair.
Season 2
After the band members were selected, Diddy made them undergo several rigorous tasks. In one highly publicized episode, some rappers had to walk to Brooklyn, New York from Midtown to buy some cheesecake for Diddy. During this season, the rappers named themselves Da Band. Their first album, released in September 2003, was entitled Too Hot For TV. They released two singles before Diddy dissolved the group later on. They were called Bad Boy This, Bad Boy That, and Tonight.
Season 3
At the end of season 3, Diddy disbanded the group, supposedly because they were acting foolish and didn’t have enough motivation and focus to become successful. He did compliment Babs and Ness and said that they had great potential. Babs and Ness haven’t produced and singles or albums as of now, however. He also worked with Chopper. He changed his name to Young City and released a solo album. His first single was Lil Daddy. His single featured artist Lil Wayne.
